Background
P&L Printing was founded in 1980 by Patty Abrisz and Lowell May. A small, worker owned shop, P&L's mission was to provide affordable, quality printing in the Denver area. The shop started operation in a one room commercial property with a single offset printing press within the Baker Neighborhood. The shop soon relocated to a storefront on the edge of downtown Denver.
In 1986, P&L moved to our most well-known location at 2298 Clay Street, in the Jefferson Park Neighborhood west of downtown Denver, just off I-25 and adjacent to Mile High Stadium. In the 90's, the shop started to incorporate digital, textile screen printing, and limited book publishing.
On July 1 2009, Patty and Lowell retired form the print trade and a new collective of worker-owners took over the business. Dave Strano and Matt Verges have dedicated themselves to ensuring that P&L's mission and work remain the same. Utilizing offset, digital, and screen printing, P&L offers a wide range of paper and textile printed products from black & white to full color.
On Mayday 2010, P&L moved into it's latest location, an 8,000 square foot warehouse near 27th and Decatur in West Denver. We're proud to be in a new larger location, and still be able to call the Jefferson Park Neighborhood our home.
Worker Owned
Our business model is simple. All the workers in the shop own and run the shop. Together, in a democratic workplace, we are able to ensure a better work environment, which translates to a better finished product.
Union Shop
We are a union shop, affiliated with the Industrial Workers of the World Industrial Union 450 (IWW-IU450), the Allied Printing Trades Council of Denver, and the Communication Workers of America (Local 7777).
Capabilities
Our machinery and resources allow us to produce a wide variety of printed products.
Utilizing four offset printing presses and a variety of digital presses and machines, we are able to print paper products of all types with a maximum 42inch width. Maximum length of a printed project is determined by the length we can find the media in. Some large format materials come in 10 foot rolls, some in 60 foot rolls. We can provide black & white, one color, two color, or full color work. Envelopes, business cards, posters, handbills, letterheads, business forms, booklets, and newsletters are our main paper specialties, but we can work to provide custom work that fits within our technical capacity.
Our shop has the capabilities currently to print t-shirts that include one to six ink colors. We can also screen print posters, stickers, and signs.
We offer in-house graphic design and manipulation, as well as reasonably priced copy writing services. We can meet nearly any standard dimension printed paper or textile need, from conception to finished product.
